Today is June 11th. The new date for the trial is June 27th. The delay was due to the County and the Attorney General each indicating they needed more time to prepare. There was a bit of a blame game where the County said a new witness was added and they needed time to conduct a deposition and the Attorney General's team indicated that the County had been slow to produce some information that was requested during discovery.
Regardless of the reason for the Delay, it is frustrating. Taxpayers have had ENOUGH! First, thousands faced unprecedented tax increases. Then a ballot proposition to add a Use Tax to the County - REJECTED by voters. Finally, the Stadium vote that saw the voters REJECT a continuation of the 3/8 cent sales tax to support Arrowhead renovations and a new Royals facility.
Now the 2025 reassessment process has started using the same company to estimate the value of your home so that unelected bureaucrats can decide if you'll keep your home or raise your taxes to a level that is unaffordable.
